Consider/Approve Waste Disposal Bid for the 2010 – 2011 School Year

Preliminary Matters:

In addition to advertising, we solicited bids from Barker Brothers Waste, Inc., Freedom Waste Services, Alan’s Industrial Waste Services, and Waste Management for the purchase of waste disposal services for the System for the 2010 – 2011 school year. We received bids from Barker Brothers Waste, Inc. ($4,188.76/month) and Freedom Waste Services ($3,178.43/month) for the purchase of this service. Both bids are in compliance with bid specifications.

Waste disposal services are specifically budgeted each fiscal year and funds will be available in the FY11 budget for this service.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the bid submitted by Freedom Waste Services in the amount of $3,178.43/month for the purchase of waste disposal services for the System for the 2010 – 2011 school year.
